My little guy has been sticking things in his mouth and drooling up a storm for a few months now. We thought he would have had a mouthful by 6 months. This morning I felt around his mouth and felt a little sharpness up front. We may have a future tooth fairy offering soon enough! My LO will be 7 months old this weekend and possibly have a tooth to show for it!
I had been shopping around for teething biscuits at the grocery stores and started to wonder if they discontinued making them for some reason. With the way practices change for babies all the time I began to think that they had taken them off the shelves and were not longer "recommended" for teething babies. After dismissing my mission since we had not been seeing any teeth I finally found some of Earths Best Whole Wheat Teething Biscuits at a baby store! I had bought them just in time for my Magoos chiclets!

The Bib Game
So as my Magoo is getting older he is developing little games. The rules are undisclosed and full participation is expected. Unfortunately for him, I keep trying to change the rules on him. The latest game we have been playing is "The Bib Game". I place the bib on him before every meal and about 2 minutes into his oatmeal, he decides to reach back there and rip off the bib. I say "no" and replace said bib and he smiles and looks into my eyes with his big blues and does it again. We go a few rounds and I think this is great for his coordination and vocabulary because now he is learning what "no" means...but is he really? Or is this part of the game? Early in the rounds of The Bib Game, I had to change the bib because the little fishies on his bib would distract him from the task at hand..."eating". I purchased solid colored bibs for yum yum time! Well, I suppose a 6 month old figuring out Velcro doesn't take long because it wasn't too long till we started with our bib tug of war. So the new wrench I have thrown into the game is a slide button, solid color rubber bib by Tommee Tippee! NO VELCRO to pull off and no distracting fish! Let's see what the next round of the Bib Game will entail!

Time is Flying
I would always say..."Don't blink for too long..."! I just can not believe how fast time is going! In a matter of a week, my boy will be 7 months old! I thank my blessings that I am able to stay home with him and enjoy every minute. I see pictures of a friend that just had her baby and I can recall every minute of the time I spent in the hospital, it feels like last week! I am discovering new milestones every day that my LO is perfecting. So much more in store for this Mama!

Baby Food
To make baby food or to buy baby food?
I was pricing out jars of baby food when the pediatrician gave us the okay to introduce foods at 4 months. I always had intentions of making baby food with the Beaba that we had received as a gift but I wanted to have a frame of reference to see if what I was making was price efficient compared to what I can be purchasing since I have to now watch what we spend since I wont be bringing home a pay check. At one of Florida's popular grocers I can buy an organic option of stage one food for about $0.50 a jar. Depending on the the season I can buy organic apples for about $1.30 a pound. So I am able to get 2 containers (2 ounces each) of food from one large apple. I store them in the OXO baby food containers that come with their own stack able trays. Overall I think I made the right decision since I have the time to make the food and with the tools that are available to me it makes it really easy!
The Beaba steams the food and makes it into the puree all in the same container. SUPER easy to clean and store when it's not in use and gives me the freedom to make what I want for my LO. The OXO containers are nice and compact and store nicely in my freezer. They are BPA and PVC free, leak proof and nice and compact to travel with when visiting grandma!
What seals the deal for me is that my LO has never rejected anything I have made for him! I have been making his food for over 2 months and he has eaten everything I have prepared. Why mess with something that works?Overall I would say that I will continue to make my Magoos food!
My Intro
Not sure where to start so I will begin by telling you I became a Mama in November and I am enjoying every minute I have with my little Magoo! I had a lot to consider when deciding to become a stay at home Mom. Some financial doubts and some doubts about the ability to be a mom full time! In the end, staying home with my LO has been the best decision I have ever made! And so together my Magoo and I learn. I learn patience and signals and he learns to sit up, roll over (my son not my dog), and pull himself up.
We all get an ear full of advise from our families and then we also go hunting the Internet for advice from other moms. In the end the only people that will have the right answer is you and your LO. It's all a process. You take the advice and put it through a strainer and keep the good parts and then put your twist on it that makes it work for you. I won't claim to know what works since this is my first go at it, what works now may not tomorrow.
